96 Courageously Collaborative Attendees Explored Bold Ideas at
MACC's 2018 Member Summit

In March 96 courageous network leaders gathered at MACC's 2019 Member Summit to lean in to their network and take ownership of our work together.

MACC's Member Summit brings diverse individuals across our network together to explore and elevate the shared wisdom within our network and to deepen our connections to each other.

This year we kicked off our day with a fun activity to make our network more visible to its members. We created a physical version of a MACC facebook, with everyone filling out and sharing 'social networking cards'. Members got to share who they are, what skills or energy they bring to the network, and what they seek from the network. Throughout the day attendees could ‘browse’ the cards to learn more about each other and identify people they might want to connect with.

We heard from
Monica Hurtado, of Voices for Racial Justice, about her personal story of courageous collaboration engaging with unlikely partners in what turned out to be a transformative experience challenging the status quo around the 2020 Census.

We also dug in together to what collaboration means – collaboration is the heart of our work as a network. We learned from each other, guided by expert trainer
Karen Ray, about collaboration how tos: how to define collaboration, where to get started, find the right partners, build trust, build for resilience, and structure effective partnerships.

We ended our day by putting our learning to work. MACC's Summit is an idea lab. Members brought forward opportunities to deepen existing partnership, and to form brand new ones. We explored together ways we might work as partners to tackle the shared challenges we're facing.
